Aim: Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC) of the ovary is a rare, recently recognized, subtype of ovarian surface epithelial cancer, still with uncertain incidence. We present a case of TCC of ovary, managed by staging operation and followed by postoperative chemotherapy. Methods: A 51 years old postmenopausal woman presented with a history of 3 month pelvic pain. Pelvic sonography and computed tomography abdominal showed pelvic mass. Serum Ca-125 was normal. A staging operation with total abdominal hysterectomy , bilateral salpingo-oephorectomy, infracolic omentectomy and pelvic lymphnode dissection was performed. Results: After surgery the pathologic report of the left ovarian tumor was TCC grade 3 stage IA. The patient underwent 4 cycles of chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel. She is regularly followed up has been disease free for 5 months. Conclusions: TCCX of the ovary is a rare subtype of apithelial ovarian cancer. Syrgical resection is the primary treatment approach and patient outcomes after posteroperative chemotherapy was better than other histological types of ovarian carcinomas.
